Abstract: | The primary object of this study is to examine the genesis and evolution of controversial issues in African-Arab relations. Special emphasis is given to the modern era, which dates from the Egyptian revolution of July 1952. The analysis focuses on the role of Islam in African-Arab politics. The importance of this factor has increased significantly owing to competition between Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Libya.
