| Abstract: | As part of their effort to respond to the challenge presented by the Kairos Document, a theological comment on the political crisis in South Africa by concerned Christians in that country, the Africa Committee of the US National Council of Churches organized a convocation on the Document in 1986. The meeting was convened in order to provide an opportunity for Christians in the USA to reflect on the Document and formulate appropriate responses to the situation in South Africa. The convocation was organized around the major sections of the Kairos Document: State theology, Church theology, prophetic theology. This volume contains all the formal presentations and most of the responses to those presentations. In addition, the Kairos Covenant and the Sing Sing statement have been included as examples of responses of US Christians to the Kairos Document. |
