Abstract:This volume presents material from the workshop on Christian-Muslim relations in Eastern Africa, held in Nairobi in 1987. It contains an outline of the Project for Christian-Muslim relations in Africa; three papers on Islam; a short survey of Islam in East Africa and a brief history of Islam in Nairobi; a paper on some theological issues between Muslims and Christians; reports on the Christian-Muslim dialogue in Africa and Christian-Muslim relations in Tanzania, Kenya and Ethiopia, and brief reports from Sudan, Uganda, Madagascar and Zimbabwe; five meditations and bible studies; a paper on priorities for the Church in its relationship to Muslims; group reports and recommendations; statistics of religious adherence (Muslims and Christians) in Africa; select literature on Christian-Muslim relations; and a list of participants.
