Abstract:Education with production is the cornerstone of Zimbabwe's education philosophy. Its aim, in brief, is to produce citizens dedicated to working toward an egalitarian society based upon Marxist-Leninist principles. The author outlines the concept of education for production, its rationale and its implementation as observed in twenty primary schools chosen from two regions of Zimbabwe, Midlands and Manicaland. Major problems in running the school projects were found to include the teachers' lack of knowledge and skills, a lack of balance between theory and practice, an unsupportive school administration, and the separation between school and work. Recommendations to overcome such implementation problems are made. Bibliogr., notes.
