Abstract: | In August 1984 Lesotho enacted its own Patents Act, 1984, and Trade Marks Act, 1984. The two statutes entered into force on 1 October, 1985. The most controversial part of the two legislations is the 'clean-the-slate' clauses, which cancel all patents acquired and all trademarks registered under the former legislation. No official explanation for the inclusion of these clauses has been given. The author examines the main provisions of both Acts. Notes, ref. |
