Abstract:	Case study of India's export of capital goods to Tanzania as viewed from both the exporter's and the importer's side. Studying this trade flow in its development context entails analysis at three different levels in both countries, namely at the level of the firms directly involved in the trade, at the level of institutions (public and private) dealing with the trade, and at the level of the government, which is responsible for trade and development strategy and policy. Fieldwork in India was carried out in October-November 1986, in Tanzania in January-February 1987.
