Abstract: | Compared to other areas, education in Kenya has been relatively well researched. Between 1979 and 1981 the most frequently recurring research topics in this domain included regional and social disparities in educational provision, educational demand, education and employment, the nature of the teaching profession and student evaluation. However, most educational research tends to be on what is rather than on how to change existing conditions. The author outlines this, and other issues pertaining to educational research in Kenya, including the research community, research training, methodology, funding, the dissemination of research findings, and joint research efforts.
