Abstract:Presents the results of a research on possibilities of introducing weaving into the home economics curriculum in Zimbabwe. The state of weaving in nonformal education was assessed by means of interviews with weaving instructors who were asked about equipment, supplies, training and marketing. Form I and II pupils were observed as they tried selected weaving techniques. At the end of the trial period the pupils were asked to record their experiences in a structured questionnaire. Policy-related issues were discussed in an interview with a senior home economics education officer. The study shows that weaving can be a useful component of home economics. Bibliogr.
