| Abstract: | Employing two alternative test frameworks, L. Girton and D. Roper's (1977) exchange-market-pressure equation, and B.B. Aghevli and M.S. Khan's (1977) correlation coefficient test, this study examines the relevance of the monetary approach to balance of payments in a less developed economy using the example of Nigeria. The results suggest that the monetary approach to balance of payments is an adequate representation of the Nigerian data between 1960-1985. This suggests that this approach probably has a wider region of application than hitherto thought. Bibliogr. |
