Abstract:This article investigates the migration and early movements of the Bantu, more specifically the Owambo, of Namibia. The point of departure is the origin of the Bantu in the Benue Valley, near present-day Cameroon, and from then on a number of historical periods in the past of the Owambo are highlighted from alternative perspectives, ranging from archaeological, anthropological and historical, to literary and linguistic. Extracts from folktales in Owambo have been included with an English translation. Bibliogr., notes, ref.
