Abstract:This paper examines the internal efficiency, described as the relationship between school inputs and outputs, of the two main education levels in Zimbabwe and the various school types. It does so by investigating differences in wastage and repetition rates in primary and secondary schools in Zimbabwe since independence. The discussion then centres on the factors which may be responsible for differences in wastage rates, such as levels of urbanization and school type. Attention is also drawn to the cost implications of high wastage and repetition rates. Bibliogr., sum.
