Abstract:In preparation for a project on the protection of environmental and biological diversity in the Lake Victoria Basin, which will be implemented jointly by the University of Dar es Salaam, Makerere University, Moi University and the University of Amsterdam, this papers bring together the current expertise available for such a project, notably in the Netherlands. It includes a survey of international projects relevant to the theme, a directory of institutes and organizations in various countries in Africa and Europe and in the US which offer expertise in the relevant subjects, a survey of recent literature on Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania derived from various sources, and lists of participants in two Lake Victoria workshops held in 1992.
