Abstract:Text in Italian. English sum.: This article compares the prices of urban land in six central African towns, viz. Kinshasa, Kisangani and Mbuji-Mayi in Zaire, Brazzaville (Congo), Bangui (Central African Republic), and Libreville (Gabon). It shows that first acquisition prices of urban land differ considerably for land of the same quality. It investigates the factors responsible for these disparities on the basis of an analysis of data for the period 1980 to 1985. Attention is paid to the characteristics of the land tenure systems in the six towns in question and in particular to the role of the autochthonous local population. Notes, ref.
