Abstract: | The first part of this paper on legal education in Zambia situates the discussion within its institutional framework. The focus here is on the work of the School of Law, University of Zambia, particularly on curricula, teaching facilities, methods of instruction, lecturer-student relationship, and staffing. The second part deals with the relationship between the School of Law and the Bar, paying attention to the School's responsibility to the Bar and the need for the Bar to support and take an active part in the activities and programmes of the School. Lastly, the need to reconcile the claimant demands of public service on the one hand, and the lure of huge financial regards in private practice on the other, are dicussed in the concluding part of the paper.
