Abstract:This study attempts to establish whether demographic variables affect saving and GDP. It specifies a simplified econometric model with economic and demographic submodels as well as the possible interaction between the two. The model is tested using times series data from Ethiopia, which were mostly assembled in 1982. The results show that a lower rate of population growth would eventually increase per capita saving which, in turn, would positively affect per capita GDP. Bibliogr.
