Abstract: | In the introduction Willfried F. Feuser deals with divination in West Africa, notably the Ifa oracle of the Yoruba, and with the transatlantic extensions of West African divination lore in Brazil. Then he presents a selection of Yoruba divination tales, written down by a holy woman, Agripina Souza, in Rio de Janeiro in 1928 (or 1948) and discovered by Pierre Verger. The selection is derived from P. VERGER, 'Dilogun: Brazilian tales of Yoruba divination'. Notes, ref. |
