Abstract:This article explores the influence of Islam on Nigeria's foreign policy, particularly its relations with Saudi Arabia. It shows that, from colonialism to independence and to military interventionism, the influence of Islam on Nigeria's foreign relations has been very significant. The question of the pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina has made Islam a 'public realm activity' of the Nigerian government. Notes, ref.
