Abstract: | Founded in 1957, the 'Journal of African Law' has completed thirty years of publication, an event which is commemorated in this special volume of essays in honour of Professor A.N. (Tony) Allott, the Journal's founding editor. Here the author, Professor of Comparative Public Law with special reference to Africa in the University of London, outlines Allott's career at the School of Oriental and African Studies, and considers the various ways in which he has contributed to modern legal scholarship, especially in the field of the laws of Africa. Ref. A bibliography of the works of Antony Allott published between 1948-1988 appears on p. 226-231. |
