Abstract:This paper compares beliefs about death and funeral rites in Yoruba religion, Islam, and Judaism. It discusses differences as well as similarities between the three religions and highlights specific characteristics, such as the presentation of food to the dead in Yoruba religion, and prayers in Islam and Judaism. Since Yoruba society is religiously pluralistic today, funeral rites often incorporate elements of all three religions. Notes, ref.
