Abstract: | This study analyses the perspectives of industrialization in Africa, using the edible oil industry in Egypt and the Sudan as an example. The study focuses on three important aspects for industrial success: the linkages between industry and agriculture, the performance of public and private enterprises, and the impact of government policy on the sector. Fieldwork was carried out in 1989-1991 in the Sudan, and in 1993 in Egypt. |
