Abstract: | This article provides a perspective on recent initiatives towards collaborative policy training in the southern African region, focusing on a number of specific selected cooperative efforts in the recent past. A preliminary assessment is given of a Master's degree course in Policy Studies (MPS) for all SADC countries and the potential value of case studies in this context. Further perspectives are also provided on the possible advantages of capacitybuilding partnership among policy support type organizations in southern Africa. The article shows that sound policy management is a critical component to growth and development and that essential capacities need to be fostered over the longer term to ensure adequate professional support.
