Abstract:Recently the proverbs of the Yoruba of Nigeria have been denounced by feminists as sexist and misogynous. This has completely obliterated the fact that many of them are blatantly anti-male. This paper sets out to highlight the generally (imperceptible) gnawing nuances of meaning on masculinity portrayed in some such proverbs. Bibliogr.
