Abstract:Concerns primarily with the evidence for a change in the succession to the paramount stool of Manya Krobo, an Adangme stool in eastern Ghana. The article discusses the nature of change and the factors which contributed to this change, and runs counter to the tendency among historians to infer recent succession patterns unchanged into the past.
