Abstract: | The author carried out a study of the coinage of Aksum - a kingdom, centred in the highlands of Tegre in northern Ethiopia, which rose to some significance in the Graeco-Roman orbit between the fourth and the sixth centuries AD - when a research student of the British Institute. Here he examines the history of the main port of the kingdom, Adulis, situated in the Gulf of Zula (Annesley Bay) opposite the Dahlak Islands. App., notes, ref. |
