Abstract:Zimbabwe's National Training Policy provides a framework, approved by the government, within which all planning and development of public service training is to be conducted. The author, director of training with the Public Service Commission, Harare, outlines the purpose of the document, the scope of the national training policy, its duration and timing, the potential users, and other related documents. He subsequently deals with the context for the national training policy, the purposes of training, responsibility for the provision of training, training needs assessment and the setting of training priorities, nonformal training, training programme policies, and the funding and budgeting of training activities.
