Abstract: | Over the last eighteen months, there is a growing appreciation in Britain that there is a real economic case for the maintenance of sanctions, quite apart from the political and ethical ones. The author outlines the extent of Britain's economic interests north and south of the Zambezi. Successively he concentrates on trade and on direct investment. His conclusion is that there is no economic case for the removal of sanctions in advance of a settlement that is acceptable to African opinion. Notes. |
