Abstract:In Tanzania some misconceptions about food problems have governed led to counterproductive planning. United Nations agencies 9UN 1968, FAO/WHO/UNICEF 1971 a und B) produced statements which led to wrong problem formulation and wasteful planning. The author propose in an outline form an effective food policy for Tanzania which seems necessary if it should have an effect in the Third Five Year Plan period. this is done in the following sections: The so-called protein problem - The effective planning process - Evidence of malnutrition - Relevant measures in the Tanzanian Context.
