Abstract: | The major concerns of all the women's organizations in Uganda are to make sure that girls who are academically able have a chance financially to persue their education. Their struggle for equality is not a question that the organizations concern themselves with, i.a. because there are equal opportunities and equal rights in employment. In the last 20 years membership of the old associations has boomed and the number of organizations has increased. The article describes briefly the activities of several of them and shows that it is through these activities that they in general contribute to Uganda's development by helping to raise the standard of living at family level, community level and national level. |
