Abstract:This article examines food supply in Tropical Africa (it concentrates on food supply as energy and ignores proteins, vitamins and minerals) and food imports in Tropical Africa as a whole and by countries (only the major staples together with sugar have been examined). At the end the author analyses the causes for the current food supply and import situation and the attempts to solve these problems. Fig., notes, tab.
