Abstract: | In Nsaw, traditional subsistense agriculture by women has given way partly to cash crop growing (coddee); changes in land tenure have been complicated by the presence of immigrant Fulani herdsmen who need grazing. Nsaw regarded allocation of grazing as temporary loan to strangers but found it difficult to resume their lands or to evict Fulani. The chief and customary lineage organisations are both concerned with allocations of holdings and land is not at present negotiable. |
