censorship
Abstract:Censorship has been applied in recent years with much rigor to imported literature (Bishop Reeves' Sharpeville, Father Hoope's account of the happenings at Zeerust). The new publications and Entertainments Bill carries censorship further. It proposes to censor books published in S.Africa and to extend censorship to periodical publications and introduce provisions for prior censorship, and it contains a real threat to newspapers.
