Abstract: | In 1971 the author and several assistants conducted a survey in this field. It showed a clear need for a police educational program regarding juvenile delinquency. The police admit to a lack of understanding of delinquent behaviour. A course of instruction aimed at better preparing the police who deal regularly with juveniles is feasible and should be considered by the authorities. Section 1: Police procedures in handling juveniles - Organization of the juvenile section of the police - A comparison of the law vith the practice regarding handling of juveniles - Section 2: A profile ot the police handling juveniles in Addis Ababa - Method of study - Background of the officers - Understanding of delinquent behaviour - Handling of delinquents - Opinions on other institutions - Conclusion.
