Abstract: | Focuses on the question: what role does family structure play in the development of delinquent behaviour? Shown is how the patterns of human relationships within the families of delinquent children have made for the development of delinquent behaviour. Reformulated are the ideas expressed in the theoretical orientation of previous studies into the conceptual framework of symbolic interaction. Some hypotheses generated from this conceptual frame of reference are empirically tested. By the use of the one-tailed test of significance is tried to establish relationship between certain factors within the family structure. By means of the Yule's Q the degree of the strength of the association between the independent and dependent variables was ascertained. The findings are discussed and related to the findings of previous studies. Notes, tables. |
