Abstract: | Objective is to look at the insurance companies in general and the life insurance companies in particular as investors, noting their characteristics, and their potentials in the Nigerian capital market. The objectives of life insurance investment activities are examined and contrasted with the other insurance companies' investment objectives. The asset structure of insurance companies is identified and the life components are related to the total over an extended period. The problems arising from the nature of the investments and/or the growth of funds are discussed. Ref., notes, tables. |
