Abstract:Statement of Mr. Arba H. Diallo, Deputy Director of UNSO (United Nations Sahelian Office) at the Meeting on the problems of Hunger in the Sahel organized by the Italian Government and the Italo-African Institute in Rome on 5 October 1982. After exposing the aims of UNSO, its mandates and its cooperation with the Inter-state Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel (CILSS), Mr. Diallo offers some suggestions for improving food sufficiency in the Sahel: Agriculture - Water resources management - Livestock - Fisheries - Ecological balance - Infrastructure - Technical assistance.
