Abstract: | Nowhere is the savanna-forest boundary more clearly defined than in Western Nigeria. The origin of the boundary is a matter of considerable ecological debate. Some authorities stress the importance of biotic influences, others assign more in portance to climatic controls, some authors emphasize edaphic factors. The authors of the present article already have considerable field experience in this region. This article indicates the ways of further examination and discusses the problems related to the changes in the boundary. References; French summary. |
