Abstract: | The geographical position of the former British colony The Gambia required a special relationship with Senegal. This relationship dates from the early 20th century, but it was in 1964 that Senegal and the Gambia signed their first major agreements with one another. The most striking agreement came in 1967 with the signing of the Senegambian Treaty of Association. The several agreements signed between Senegal and the Gambia are reviewed in this discussion and analysis of the growth of the Senegambia Association from 1964 to 1970. Notes. |
