Abstract: | On their conference in Liberia, July 1959, President Tubman, Dr. Nkrumah and M. Sekou Touré among other things proposed holding a conference in 1960 of Independent States of Africa, as well as of non-independent states which have fixed dates for achieving independence, to work out a charter to achieve the ultimate goal of unity. They also agreed on 'principles' to be presented to the conference as a basis for discussions. These principles, with the object in view of a 'Community of Independent African States' are mentioned in this article. (See also: W.African Review, 30(1959), p.531). |
