Abstract: | Object of this article is to draw attention, for purposes of further study, to a triadic pattern of classification which appears to underlie the political organization of the Yoruba-speaking peoples of Kabba Province and which has shown a remarkable persistence through time. The author is concerned with the Abunú, Ijúmú and Owé, three peoples which are now under a joint council known as B.I.K.N.A. (Bunu Ijúmú Kabba Native Authority) with own treasury and office. The data used are partly ethnographic (field research 1964/65), partly historical, drawn from reports by British officials. References. |
