Abstract:Although the new Civil Code of 1960 for Ethiopia ostensibly marked the end of the application of customary law throughout the empire, for the moment, however, customary law continues to play a significant role in certain areas of the law. Land law is one of the spheres which has not been completely recast. The article contains a bibliography that records, in chronological sequence, the more extensive treatments of customary land tenure among the highland peoples of Etiopia from the earliest essays to the present day.
