Abstract: | This paper briefly reviews the question of entrepreneurship in Liberia. First, some background material is presented in a review of a recent article on Liberian tribal entrepreneurs Second, the role of kinship obligations in entrepreneurship is discussed with reference to market sellers in Monrovia. Third, a brief description of the Liberian market system is presented as introduction to explaining why some people enter trade and others do not and why some people remain in trade and others withdraw. Finally, some implications of the data are discussed, and considerations for research on entrepreneurship in Liberia are summarized. Notes, tables. |
