Abstract: | The aim of this article is to assess the efficiency of the secondary education system in Bendel State of Nigeria over the 1965 to 1974/75 period. In a first section, conceptual problems involved in the measurement of educational inputs and outputs are discussed. In the second section, the inputs, outputs and efficiency trends of general secondary education in the Bendel State over the selected period are measured. Finally, the author comments upon the results of his investigation, concentrating on the policy implications of his findings and the need for better data and information. Ann., ref., Sum.
