Abstract:UNCTAD'S Integrated Program for Commodities (IPC) is an ambitious initiative in terms of assistance from the developed countries in order to stabilize and strengthen commodity export markets. This paper examines the extent to which the interests of the African countries have been taken into account. First the analysis focuses in general on the relationship between trade-related schemes and direct development assistance; then it turns to the distributional aspects with respect to Africa of trade-related schemes, in particular the IPC.
