| Abstract: | Objects: 1) to investigate the behaviour of Nigeria's transportation account over the period 1955/1973; 2) because of the need to present a fairly, less distorted picture of the transportation account balance, a case is made for valuing Nigerian imports f.o.b. and subsequently determine empirically an 'adjustment factor' for estimating Nigerian imports f.o.b. Section I of the paper looks at the transportation account in a general perspective and examines trends in Nigeria's account. Section II discusses the valuation of imports. Section III contains the results of the efforts at empirically arriving at a 'factor' for adjusting Nigerian imports c.i.f. to f.o.b. terms. Conclusions. Notes, Cables, appendices, summary. |
