Abstract: | Critical assessment of the contents of the history programmes of Nigerian Universities and Colleges of Education. The paper is motivated by the need to know the richness and weakness of the schemes of work on history in Nigeria's institutions of higher education and to offer sugge stions for improvement. It is divided into two parts, the first deals with the universities and the second with the Colleges of Education. On the whole, the courses are rich but there are the constraints of adequate finance and staff, ideological focus and deep commitment to learning on the part of students. Notes, ref. |
