Abstract:Although the United States of America and Nigeria show differences as far as their population. economics, geographies and level of development are concerned, there are some similarities. Like the U.S.A., Nigeria can be termed a pluralistic society, in which about 250 different ethnic groups have been brought together by Britain to form a nation. With the gaining of independence in 1960, Nigeria, like the U.S.A., pledged herself to the formation of a democratic society. Nigeria can profit by the experienees of the U.S.A. In the article that deals with the problem of unemployment among youths (school leavers) in both countries, the following questions are examined: 1. What is unemployment? 2. Who are the unemployed? 3. What are the impacts of unemployment? 4. What are the causes of unemployment? 5. What are the possible solutions to the problem of unemployment? Notes.
