Abstract: | Discussion of the evolution of the training programme at the National Forestry School of Burkina Faso and the development of a new curriculum with increased emphasis on practical training in extension forestry techniques. The experience gained by the technical assistance team which worked for three years with teachers at Dinderesso under the USAID-funded Forestry Education and Development Project indicates the importance, amongst others, of long-term participant training of national staff, the quality of those assigned to the staff, practical training, keeping in touch with new developments in the discipline, recruiting suitable students, developing textbooks as a tool for active teaching, and taking cognizance of the problem of recurrent costs. |
