Abstract:Purpose of the study is to investigate women's access to higher education in Kenya, especially in the area of science and mathematics education: 1) What were the enrolment and drop-out rates among boys and girls in the primary and secondary school and at university from 1964 to 1980? 2) What were the enrolment rates in Forms V and VI science classes in science based faculties at university for the years 1970-1980? 3) What is the nature and extent of sex differences in the learning of mathematics and science, the study of mathematics and science? 4) What factors in the lives or education of students at secondary school influence the learning or study of mathematics and science and the pursuit of careers which require mathematical/scientific skills or competency? - Fig., ref., tab.
