Abstract: | The Ethiopian Comprehensive Secondary Education Programme, which began on an experimental basis in the academic year 1961-62, is at present operating in about 32 Junior and 45 Senior Secondary Schools in the country. The aim of the programme is to make the school system more relevant to the needs of Ethiopia by the addition of practical courses in industrial arts, home economics, commerce and agriculture. The sections are: background - the programme - aims - personnel requirements for comprehensive secondary schools - provision of facilities for comprehensive secondary schools - availability of teaching aids - graduates of comprehensive programme in various vocational streams.
