Abstract: | The former Cameroon Federation existed for eleven years without any rational criteria for allocating revenues between the Federal and State governments. It is in the light of this unsatisfactory situation that this paper is devoted to examining how the system of revenue allocating in the Cameroon Federation operated, with a view to suggesting some principles on which the division of revenue between the different tiers of government in old and new federations could be based. Sections: Introduction - The former Cameroon Federation - PreFederation government financial situation Federal constitutional provisions - The system of revenue allocation - Appraisal for the system - Principles for a revenue allocation system Concluding remarks.
